Over to Egypt, President Abdel Fattah EL Sisi has inaugurated the first mosque in the country's New Administrative Capital. The mosque can hold more than 17 thousand worshippers and is one of the largest in the world. Adel El Mahrouky reports.
ADEL EL MAHROUKY NEW ADMINISTRATIVE CAPITAL, EGYPT "In the middle of the Egyptian Eastern desert stands a new colossal construction. Al Fattah Al Aleem mosque has been inspired by President Abdel Fattah EL Sisi's name and will be the landmark of the New Egyptian administrative capital."
Where the Urban extension of new Cairo ends, a new Egyptian dream begins. It appears to be nowhere, this landscape, however, is planned to be the new Capital of Egypt. And this grand Mosque Al Fattah Al Aleem stands at the entrance of this administrative city to be. This month President Abdel Fattah EL Sisi has hosted a grand ceremony for its inauguration.
KAMEL AL WAZIR, CHIEF OF STAFF EGYPTIAN ARMED FORCES ENGINEERING AUTHORITY "The mosque has been designed on the Egyptian Islamic architecture style, it has four minarets each topped with a brass crescent and stands at a height of 95 meters. It has 21 domes, four main ones at each corner, each with a diameter of nearly 12 meters and height 29 meters."
Its central dome is the mosque's most iconic feature, 33 meters in diameter and 44 meters high, it's one of the biggest in the Middle East.
Established on 106 acres of land, Al Fattah Al Aleem has been built to stand out.
To emphasize on the importance of national unity among religious sects and to maintain social harmony, EL Sisi made the Coptic Egyptian Pope the first to speak in the mosque.

Al Fattah Al Aleem can accommodate more than 17 thousand worshippers. 30 thousand engineers and workers have constructed this grand establishment in less than two years.
