Chinese women’s volleyball team has already secured the title and gold medal for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Women’s World Grand Champions Cup after the US beat Japan with 3-2 on the fourth day of games in Nagoya's Nippon Gaishi Hall on Saturday.
"Team Russia is traditionally strong. We have made a lot of preparations before the game," said China coach An Jiajie.
"Our players adjusted well and were careful in blocking and receiving when Russia frequently changed their players. Our attacks also were planned well," An added.

Zhang Changning had 16 points to help the China defeat Russia 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20). Zhang made 14 attacks, a block and an ace. Zeng Chunlei, Zhu Ting and Yuan Xinyue acted as Zhang’s support crew, as they also scored double digits to lead the country to success. Kseniia Parubets led Russia with 11 points.
The last match is bound to decide who will take the silver medal, for which the final day is set for September 10, between USA and Brazil.
Subsequently, Brazil put an end to their losing streak with a straight set win over South Korea and the US bounced back and defeated host Japan with 3-2.
Currently, Chinese women’s volleyball team holds four consecutive victories, ranked the top in their division, followed by the US who has 3 wins and 1 loss. Both Brazil and Japan have 2 wins and 2 losses.
The FIVB Women’s World Grand Champions Cup used a round robin format for this competition, which leaves the final standings to be decided by match points and numbers of matches won.

The victory put Chinese team on 11 points for the tournament and the US team has 7 points meaning China has dominated the division for sure, even if the US wins the final game.
The 2017 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup was held from September 5 to 10 in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan. Six world teams have joined the competition including China, US, Brazil, Russia, South Korea and Japan.
It’s the second time, after an interval of 16 years, China crowned the world champion with a five straight set win. China, along with Brazil as the only reigning champions, now has three global volleyball trophies – 2017 World Grand Champions Cup, 2016 Olympic Games and 2015 World Cup.
