Many universities across China are sending out their 2018 admission letters. While many students are excited about being accepted, many also face the difficult question of how to pay for it. In today's "Our Story", we introduce you to a boy who sells watermelons to earn tuition money for his dream school. CGTN's ZHENG CHUNYING has more.
An offer to be admitted into an ideal school.
It was a dream come true for 18-year-old Li Enhui who grew up in poverty with his father, in a remote rural village in China's Zhejiang Province.
However, Li faced a tough struggle to pay for the education expenses. So he decided to sell watermelons, to raise money for tuition.
LI ENHUI "I'm not sure if I could make it, but I'll try my best to earn the tuition by myself."
His story soon went viral after a local TV news broadcast.
Many people were touched by his strong determination and independent spirit and reached out to him to buy his melons.
With too many orders for Li to manage, many warm-hearted people even drive their cars to help him with the deliveries.
"I was impressed by the boy. I travelled far to come buy his watermelons, just to support him."
"It's really hard for the boy. I think we all should learn from his spirit, so I brought my kid to support him with me. I hope my kid will be inspired by his story."
And to Li, their support was a great encouragement.
LI ENHUI "I've sold three wagons of watermelons tonight. I'm so grateful for all the warm-hearted people, grateful for their support. I'll work harder in the future."
Here's to hoping this inspirational young man will see his campus dream finally become reality.
