The Chinese and Russian navies have completed exercises in the first stage of an ongoing joint military drill code-named "Joint Sea 2017” in the Baltic Sea.
China's missile destroyer "Hefei" and missile frigate "Yuncheng" docked in Saint Petersburg on Thursday afternoon.
During the drill, two tactical assault groups conducted a string of joint exercises, including air defense activities, landing drills and other missions.
The two navies are expected to promote mutual friendship and trust. Russian President Vladimir Putin reckons that the drills are pivotal in strengthening the ability of both armies.
