The world’s premier offshore sailing competition Volvo Ocean Race is in Hong Kong after the conclusion of Leg Four, a tough journey that started weeks ago from Melbourne. An in-port race will be held this weekend.
Chen Jinhao is one of the three Chinese sailors participating in this game deemed as the Everest of sailing. This is his second time at the race, yet he is aiming higher than the race itself.
Chen and his teammates spent a lot of time training since joining the Volvo Ocean Race. He’s learned a lot since his first race, and this time, he knows what he should do and what will be happening next. He said that offshore sailing competition requires teamwork, noting that his teammates are kind and nice.

As the Dongfeng team gets closer to first place after Leg Four, Chen remains confident. The coming race is in-port in Hong Kong in the next few days.
Meanwhile, Chen hopes to encourage more professional sailors in China. “In 2016, I created a sailing school to let more children and more people learn the sailing skill from 5-6 years of age. Also when I teach them, I also learn from them. It’s a very nice experience for me. I hope one of them will be joining us in the future."
