Officials of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday gave their interpretations of and shared their thoughts on the report delivered by General Secretary of CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping to the 19th CPC National Congress.
Addressing the press, the officials discussed the new leadership of the Party and what awaits China's development in the next few years.
The twice-in-a-decade Congress enshrined the "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" into the Party Constitution.
China's growth model is shifting from high speed to high quality, they said, expounding on the new principal contradiction, which Xi tackled in his report.

"From material and cultural needs to the need for a better quality of life, and from backward social production to imbalanced and inadequate development, the changes in concept have reflected the tremendous progress of Chinese society, of the developmental needs for the current stage, and of the key requirements for advancing the cause of the Party and the country," said Leng Rong, director of the CPC Central Committee Party Literature Research Center.
"Economic development will remain our central task. More emphasis will be put on all-round development in the new era," he added.
According to the report, a modern economy will be achieved through supply-side reforms, innovation, a socialist market system and opening-up. Officials said the report has highlighted that the five years since the 18th Party Congress have been truly remarkable for the development of the Party and the country.

"The report to the 19th National Congress has 32,000 words, and the 13th part of the report is on the discussion of exercising strict governance over the Party and improving the Party's ability to govern and lead. This part has 4,100 words, accounting for one-eighth of the total report. It shows this part is very significant," noted Xiao Pei, deputy secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
The 19th CPC National Congress unveiled a blueprint to usher China into a great modern socialist country by mid-21st century, and to fulfill the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
