To Rwanda now, where a Chinese film festival has concluded in the capital, Kigali. Hosted by the China Media Group, it's part of a larger cultural event called Colorful China. Beryl Ooro has that story.
The Colorful China film panorama launched at the weekend in Kigali. For a month, locals will be able to watch dozens of Chinese films dubbed into English. The exhibition has been organized by the Information Office of the State Council of China, and hosted by the China Media Group. Vice Minister of the Information Office of the State Council Guo Weimin says films can bridge and link China and Africa. And stressed the importance of the arts to boost China-Africa cooperation.
JIANG AIMING, DIRECTOR CHINA RADIO INTERNATIONAL, AFRICA HQ "I think that film is a very good carrier. It can most intuitively reflect the culture and civilization of a country and the development level of a country. I think it's our responsibility for China Media Group to do more translations and production of film and television dramas to show the real China, and make the relationship between China and Africa better."
The film exhibition has been welcomed by Rwandan viewers.
"I think Chinese movies are the best movie."
African films have also in recent years found favor among Chinese viewers. Colorful China exhibitions have been held in several African countries. They include Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, and Botswana. Beryl Ooro, CGTN.
