Syria War Seven Years On: Key town captured by Syrian military after evacuations

Ten-thousand civilians have left the besieged region of Eastern Ghouta, in what was the largest exodus from the area so far.
That's according to Syrian state television, which also says civilians from the southern pocket of Hamouria crossed into government territory, through a humanitarian corridor set up by the military. A British-based monitor says the key town was later captured by Syrian government forces. The nation's conflict is entering its eighth year, and there's no end in sight. President Bashar al-Assad's government now controls 70 percent of the country.
