Myanmar Politics: President Htin Kyaw resigns

Myanmar's president and Aung San Suu Kyi's right-hand man, Htin Kyaw, has resigned. Our Dave Grunebaum in Yangon has the details.
DAVE GRUNEBAUM YANGON "President Htin Kyaw resignation was announced on his office's Facebook page on Wednesday."
The unsigned notice said he wanted to take a rest.
Htin Kyaw had been president for almost two-years and was hand picked for the job by Aung San Suu Kyi because of his loyalty.
There had been speculation in local media for months that Htin Kyaw was having health issues but the government denied this.
Aung San Suu Kyi who is the State Counselor and is constitutionally barred from the presidency because her children are foreign-nationals.
Suu Kyi made it clear during the 2015-election campaign that if her National League For Democracy won the majority, she would be above the president.
1st Vice President Myint Swe is now acting president until a new president is picked by the parliament within seven-working days.
