China is building its first cross-Strait road-rail bridge that links Changle and the island city of Pingtan in Fujian Province. The steel-truss girders have been installed to the bridge's pile foundation. A steel-truss girder, weighing about 1,350 tons, is about 90 meters long, 40 meters wide, and a height equivalent to a five-story building. The bridge, which is the first one of its kind in China, is expected to open to traffic in 2019.
