Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has warned that Turkey's military would confront any Syrian government forces entering the northwest Afrin province to protect Kurdish YPG fighters. Cavusoglu made the statement in a press conference in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
In a statement ahead of the visit, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Cavusoglu and Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi were expected to hold talks on bilateral ties and other regional issues. These include the situations in Syria and Palestine. Cavusoglu is also set to meet Jordanian King Abdullah.
