Individual railway journeys across China are expected to hit around 14 million trips over this long weekend, as the country marks its Qingming festival. More than 500 trains are expected to be added during the travel rush for Tomb Sweeping Day.
During the holiday, more travellers are expected to take high-speed railway and express railway services. South and south-central China have also seen a rise in travel, including Shanghai, Anhui, and Jiangxi Provinces in East China. Many people also spend the three-day holiday traveling across the nation.
