Kim Yo Jong, sister of the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un, will come to the Republic of Korea (ROK) later this week to attend the ROK-hosted Winter Olympics, Seoul's unification ministry said on Wednesday.
The DPRK notified the ROK earlier in the day of who would be included in its high-ranking delegation, which will be led by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.
Kim Yo Jong, the first vice director of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, was included in the 22-strong high-level delegation scheduled to stay in ROK from Friday to Sunday for the 23rd Winter Olympics.
Also included in the DPRK delegation were Choe Hwi, chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and Ri Son Gwon, chief of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland.

The four-member delegation will be accompanied by 16 support staffers and three journalists.
The ROK government believes the DPRK delegation is meaningful as it includes officials from the ruling party, the government and sports to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, according to Seoul's unification ministry.
The Winter Olympics are slated to kick off Friday at ROK's eastern county of PyeongChang.
The DPRK athletes and cheerleaders have already arrived in ROK to march together under a unified Korean flag at the opening ceremony and cheer together for both athletes of the ROK and the DPRK.
