2 / 4   There are two essential conditions for foster families. One is the family members must be dog lovers, having enough time to play with them and raising them as the base required. The other term is that the family must return the dog at the designated time. /Chinanews Photo

3 / 4   Guide dogs will be sent to foster families when they are puppies and are socialized for nearly a year. But the success rate could only be 30 percent, according to Zhang Miaodian, the manager of the base. Long training periods, high elimination rates, as well as labor costs, health and epidemic prevention fees drive the cost of training a guide dog up to over 100,000 yuan (around 15,274 US dollars). /Chinanews Photo

4 / 4   China has a huge vacancy of guide dogs, as the country is home to 16.9 million visually impaired people. Tens of thousands of them apply for a guide dog every year, but currently only more than a hundred guide dogs are available for them. /Chinanews Photo
