Doctor saves baby by holding its head in womb for half an hour

A video of a doctor kneeling on a bed and holding the head of a baby that's still in the womb has gone viral on China’s social networks. 
Many netizens have praised this doctor who knelt for 29 minutes, trying to save the unborn baby after its umbilical cord slipped out of the womb, leaving the baby in a very dangerous situation.

It all took place in a hospital in Zezhou County in northern China’s Shanxi Province on Friday. 
The doctor, named Wang Xinhua, is a chief physician in the Obstetrics Department. She said she was checking a patient who was about to go into labor, when she saw the umbilical cord had already slipped out from the mother's body, endangering the baby's situation. At that point, the baby's heart rate was already slowing down.

Doctor Wang immediately knelt on the mother’s bed and reached into her womb to hold the baby's head. The doctor's quick thinking proved very effective. The heart rate of the baby returned to normal at once.

The ward's medical team decided to carry out a cesarean section on the mother right away. Doctor Wang continued to kneel and hold the baby's head inside the womb for the next half an hour until the newborn was removed safe and sound.

The proud father thanked Doctor Wang for her actions. He said hanging in there for his baby and dealing with the situation on the spot wasn't easy. 
The mother and the grandma said they feel deeply grateful and thanked Doctor Wang for saving their baby's life.
