The organizers of the next Winter Olympics have made a mini app that gives users an opportunity to be part of the closing ceremony at PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
As is the Olympic tradition, Beijing, which is hosting the 2022 winter games, will put on an 8-minute closing show in the S. Korean county.
The director, Zhang Yimou, has decided to give up the "human wave attack" style, and use technology as the focus.
A WeChat mini app has been created to allow users to send wishes to everyone in voice during the ceremony

Selected voices will appear in the "Beijing 8-minute" show together with the profile photo of the senders' WeChat accounts.
Although no details about the selection process have been disclosed, more than 250,000 people have recorded their wishes.
That's partly because the app can put their voices together with some Chinese celebrity recordings.
The big names who have joined the app to welcome everyone to the 2022 games include movie star Jackie Chan, ex-EXO member Lu Han and ex-NBA player Yao Ming.

We at CGTN tried the mini app and found that foreigners can also participate, as long as they download and use WeChat, the most-used cross-platform messaging app in China with nearly a billion users. Its owner Tencent is trying to build the app into a one-stop platform for everything you can think of.
In 2016 the software introduced a feature called mini app, which is basically a web app store inside WeChat. Its lightweight experience has drawn more than 170 million daily users.
Beijing hosted the 2008  Summer Olympics and will host the 2022 Winter Games.
