Open and pragmatic -- that's how Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described China's partnership with The Netherlands. He made the remark at a joint press briefing with Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok. He added that China's ties with The Netherlands have always been in the forefront of Beijing's relations with the West.
WANG YI CHINESE STATE COUNCILOR AND FOREIGN MINISTER "China thrives on reform and opening up, and The Netherlands trades freely. Building an open global economy is a goal we both share."
STEF BLOK DUTCH FOREIGN MINISTER "The Netherlands seeks to work with China in areas like logistics, agriculture, climate change, and sustainable development. The Netherlands wants to invest in knowledge about China. We want to explore unknown territories and get to know you better."
The Dutch foreign minister also extended condolences to victims of the Sichuan earthquake and expressed his support for those who were part of relief efforts.
Both sides agree that relations between China and the Netherlands have developed at a healthy and steady pace, working in the interests and for the benefits of the two nations. Jen Kwan, CGTN.
