The PyeongChang Winter Olympics will open on February 9 and the organizing committee has almost finished the decoration to the main stadium amid preparations for the opening ceremony.
Around eight kilometers away from the main press center lies the award stage with some finishing touches left to be done. Every medallist of the upcoming winter games will be presented at the award stage right outside the stadium.
With just over a week to go, the opening ceremony has triggered hot discussion as to the way of lighting the games flame. The shape of the Olympic flame cauldron is like an ancient container that stands above the corner of the stadium.
"The opening ceremony will show elements of sports and the Olympics. Both the opening and the closing ceremonies will show this by the special features on the stage," said Song Seung-wham, opening ceremony director of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
"The way we will light the torch is still a secret, but you can guess it will be like one of the events of the Winter Olympics," he added.
