Self-Driving Vehicles: Unmanned vehicle road tests allowed in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing
[]
Three cities in China have nodded with agreement to allow road testing of unmanned vehicles.
Chongqing recently gave the green light to unmanned vehicle road tests, and so have the cities of Beijing and Shanghai, passing relevant regulations. In Shanghai, self-driving vehicles were permitted to conduct their first open road tests earlier this month. However, a lot of attention has also been given to the safety of such technology. The concept of driverless cars has became a serious prospect across the world. Last Sunday, a driverless Uber vehicle killed a woman in Arizona, who was crossing a street. The vehicle was in an autonomous mode at the time, though it did have a human "safety driver" at the wheel.
