Chinese President Xi Jinping urged China’s armed forces to focus on real-combat training at a mobilization meeting on Wednesday morning.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the remarks to over 7,000 officers and soldiers assembled at the Central Theater Command.

Military reform in recent years saw the regrouping of the country’s previous seven military area commands into five theater commands. The CMC has taken charge of the overall military administration, while theater commands focus on operations and troop developments.
Meanwhile, other armed forces awaited the orders from Xi in more than four thousand parallel venues.

Xi said that the armed forces should enhance realistic military training.
The Chinese president also ordered the PLA to always follow the command of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
He also urged the armed forces to bear in mind the sacred duty from the CPC and the people in a new era.
