Earlier this year, Cape Town-based Triggerfish Animation Studios scooped up a major accolade at the Shanghai Film and Television Festival for one of its remarkable work, beating animation giants like Disney and Pixar to claim a hatrick for their latest feature, Revolting Rhymes.
The award-winning film is an animated adaptation of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake's classic book of surprising fairy-tales. The production film won the best storytelling award at this year's Shanghai festival, one of the world's premier events on the global awards circuit.
But CGTN's Travers Andrews said that the Shanghai accolade was not a easy win.
In full production, over 90 of animators craft a rich and entertaining story-line worthy of pleasing cinema goers. The studio has also always punched above its weight and often competed at a disadvantage with Hollywood heavyweights like Disney and Pixar.
They are not resting on their laurels too and are already hard at work on their next feature called The Highway Rat, which will debut in Christmas.
