On the 8th day of China Fashion Week, supermodel-turned-designer Ma Yanli, also known as Mary Ma, took her Spring/Summer 2018 collection to the runway at Beijing Hotel's Golden Hall.
It is a runway show that could take one from the bustle and hustle of city life to the mountains and rivers of Shangri-La.
With the landscapes of Shangri-La as the backdrop, Ma Yanli presented her Spring/Summer 2018 collection at Beijing Hotel.
For this collection, the beautiful scenery and diverse culture of Shangri-La in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province became the source of inspiration for the designer.

Silk gowns in white, blue, and green highlight the elegance of women, while exquisite embroideries and typical patterns from local ethnic costumes give the collection an authentic feel.
Ma said she was inspired by an unforgettable trip to Shangri-La.
"Shangri-La is one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in the world. I was amazed by the snow-capped mountains, rivers, forests and other beautiful scenes there. The folk music and costumes of local ethnic groups such as the Yi and Tibet also impressed me a lot. So from these great memories, I made this collection," said Ma.
The show attracted a lot of Ma’s celebrity friends, including Hu Jun, Ke Lan, Chen Ming and Li Dongtian, who sat in the front row.

"Ma Yanli can always surprise me. She combines ethnic elements so properly with modern design. It's amazing. And I like the music she chose for the show, it's very touching," says Hu Jun, actor, and friend of Ma.
"I knew her when she was still a model. Over the past years, I saw how she became a famous fashion designer -- this is unbelievable. And I'm impressed that she can always find inspirations from nature," says Li Dongtian, stylist, and friend of Ma.
