Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country's forces responded forcefully on Saturday after Syrian air defenses shot down an Israeli warplane that was on bombing mission in Syria.
BENJAMIN NETANYAHU ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER "Yesterday we delivered some serious blows to the Iranian and Syrian forces. We made it absolutely clear to everyone that our rules of engagement have not changed at all. We will continue to attack any attempt to hurt us, that has been our policy and that will continue to be our policy."
Syria shot down an Israeli F-16 fighter jet on Saturday which crashed in northern Israel after attacking targets in Syria. Israel says the warplane had been attacking an Iranian drone control center. Israel says its forces then attacked 12 targets in Syria, including three aerial defense batteries and four targets that it claimed were Iranian.
