The attitudes of some Chinese drivers were brought into sharp focus by a video of an elderly woman at a crosswalk. After seven cars drove ignored her and drove right past her, a yellow car stopped and waited for her to cross the street in Jinhua city, east China’s Zhejiang Province on Wednesday. Out of respect, the driver, surnamed Luo, blocked traffic to let her pass. Local police later fined the seven drivers who did not yield to the pedestrians and Luo was also criticized as his behavior was against traffic rules.
