Argentina hopes G20 will bring economy back on track

The G20 summit in Hamburg will be a forum for discussions, debates and disagreements among the leaders of the world’s most powerful economies.
CGTN's Joel Richards reported that Argentina will be paying particularly close attention to this year's event as Buenos Aires will host in 2018
The 2018 G20 will be an opportunity for the South American country to raise its profile to attract more foreign direct investment to help bring the economy back on track.
Argentina sees next year's G20 as an opportunity to showcase itself as an economy the world’s financial institutions can invest in with confidence.
Argentina is looking to formally join the Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development, but also to rebuild damaged relationships with organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, which last year returned to inspect the country’s economy for the first time in a decade.
Argentina’s slow economic recovery and ongoing austerity measures have provoked demonstrations, as the benefits of globalization have yet to be felt by many places in the country.
However, the government hopes to export more goods and hosting next year’s G20 Summit, as well as the World Trade Organization ministerial conference in December, could help to make that happen.
