At least ten people were killed in a shootout after gunmen attacked a Coptic Christian church south of Cairo on Friday, AP reported citing Egypt's health ministry spokesperson.

One gunman was shot dead by police as he tried to storm the Mar Mina Church in Helwan district. A second was captured later, Reuters quoted state television as saying.

Five security guards outside the church were also wounded in the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
