We've spoken a lot here on CGTN about the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. Now, the National Museum in Beijing is chronicling China's development in a vivid way - which people say you've got to see it to believe it! This large-scale exhibition opened this week. CGTN's Gary Anglebrandt invites you to take a sneak peek.
Time never forgets what we've been through. Nostalgic colors, age-old decorations, childhood snacks. All of what exists in memories brought to life at the National Museum, capturing the essence of a nation's evolution.
YAN XIANG, GRADUATE PARTY SCHOOL OF CPC CENTRAL COMMITTEE "These things evoke childhood memories for me. There's a saying 'China has me. I have China as well'. We must not forget history and these things. We should fight and paint a better blueprint for the country."
As people trickle in, models dressed in different eras of fashion catch their eyes. From "mom and dad's clothes" to "stylish costumes", the models themselves recall just how drastically our clothing and lives have changed.
VISITOR "I have witnessed these changes over the past 40 years. After I experienced it, I felt the rapid development of the country and the ever-changing lifestyles. It will only get better in the future."
VISITOR "As citizens, we are proud to see the rapid development of the country's military and high technology. It's great to be Chinese."
Six themes of exhibition covering military and technology, food and agriculture, trade and economy, media and communication are displayed. The exhibition runs through late December.
