The seventh Euro-Asia Economic Forum kicked off on Thursday morning, aiming to explore the potential of the Euro-Asia market, boost regional investment and encourage more exchange.
China is willing to coordinate with all partners in terms of policies and relevant mechanisms, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang said in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony in Xi’an, the capital city of northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province.
Wang also stressed the importance of promoting connectivity by accelerating infrastructure construction.
Austrian companies as well as Austrian scientific institutions can contribute to the innovation plan under the Belt and Road Initiative, said Walter Schwimmer, former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, who now works as the president of New Silk Road Association of Austria.
Apart from the main forum, politicians, business people and scholars of different fields will have discussions in 11 parallel sessions covering finance, culture, science and technology, ecology and agriculture, among other topics.
Launched in 2005, the biennial forum has been an important platform to promote the Belt and Road Initiative and taken Xi’an as the permanent site.
