A riot is ongoing at a juvenile detention facility in Guatemala's capital Guatemala City, after two teenage inmates committed suicide.
Police tried to control the situation by launching gas canisters into the facility.
Some inmates threw stones at the police and occupied the roof of the facility, demanding improved conditions including conjugal visits.
According to Interior Minister Francisco Rivas, about 10 inmates tried to escape during the riot but six of them were captured.
The two inmates who killed themselves were 18-year-olds, and both possessed guns and had hanged themselves with bed sheets.
In March, a fire at a government facility for abused children killed 41 girls in Guatemala City.
