Brazilian forward Neymar could be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, as the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot during a match against Marseille on Feb. 25. He will undergo surgery this weekend, and his doctor said the star striker could be out for up to three months, right up to the start of the World Cup.
During the French League football match between PSG and Marseille, the world’s most expensive player rolled his ankle in the final quarter of the game and was in some discomfort as he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
Brazil's national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar reported that "It was not a simple fissure in his little toe. It was a meaningful fracture in a toe in the middle of his foot."

"To be honest, what worries us is the full recovery of the player, his health comes first. He will recover and be available to his club and to the national team as soon as possible, that's our challenge,” said Lasmar.
The doctor also noted that Neymar would have surgery Saturday and could be out of action for between two-and-a-half to three months. The World Cup starts June 14 and Brazil are scheduled to play their first match against Switzerland three days later.
