Chinese New Year shoppers going for high-end goods

From couplets, paper cuts, red lanterns and, of course, delicious snacks from candies and nuts to fruits, people in China are busy finalizing their shopping for the Spring Festival.
Retailers have reported some some new trends among shoppers this year.
"Customers are more interested in high quality goods, like cherries from Chile and beef from the US," says Sun Jie, deputy general manager of Walmart Jianguolu branch. "Commodities from traditional local brands are also sought after, such as pastries from Daoxiangcun and Peking duck from Quanjude."
