To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an exhibition highlighting its art achievements has opened at Beijing's Cultural Palace of Nationalities. Here's more.
A showcase of Guangxi's art achievements in the past six decades.
The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, calligraphy work, and ethnic handicrafts and clothing.
Some of the highlights of the exhibition are the exquisite ethnic costumes, brocades and embroidery from the 12 ethnic groups in the autonomous region. They display different ethnic groups' traditions, customs and tastes.
ZHENG YAYUAN DOCENT, GUANGXI MUSEUM OF NATIONALITIES "Take the Zhuang ethnic group for example, their traditional costumes used to be dark, blue and black in the past, but nowadays being influenced by the Han people and other ethnic groups, their costumes are becoming more bright and colorful."
The exhibition also includes 60 paintings and 60 photographs.
The paintings were created by both prominent and emerging artists. Most of them depict the amazing natural landscapes in Guangxi, such as the renowned Elephant Trunk Hill, and local holiday scenes.
HUANG YUNLONG VICE CHAIRMAN, GUANGXI LITERATURE AND ARTS ASSOCIATION "This painting depicts the Zhuang, Yi, Dong and other ethnic groups gathering together celebrating the Sanyuesan Festival. And this one shows the Guangxi Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, which was listed as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site in 2016."
Meanwhile, the photographs reveal the profound economic and social changes that have taken place in the autonomous region since it was established 60 years ago.
Organizers say the exhibition is being held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the 40th anniversary of the launch of the reform and opening up policy.
HUANG YUNLONG VICE CHAIRMAN, GUANGXI LITERATURE AND ARTS ASSOCIATION "This exhibition is a look back at Guangxi's art achievements in the past 60 years. It offers a good opportunity for Guangxi to introduce its rich culture and history, as well as great natural landscapes to people all across the country."
60 calligraphy works are also featured at the exhibition, which runs through November 20th.
