Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with a delegation from the UN Security Council at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. As the rotating Chair of the UN Security Council for November, China has invited the permanent representatives of all member states, and the member states-elect of the UN Security Council, to the capital from November 25th to 28th.
Wang Yi expressed that this visit will help members of the Security Council, to get a better understanding of China's development path and its progress since the reform and opening-up policy was implemented 40 years ago. He added that China is willing to work with other members to tackle global challenges and safeguard multilateralism. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on issues including the role of the UN under the current international situation, and China's cooperation with the international body. The delegation will also visit a Chinese peacekeeping barracks where troops are on standby, and will travel to Guangdong Province in the south.
