Some of China's top political advisors met the media in the Members' Corridor at the Great Hall of the People once again on Saturday. Our reporter Liu Yang was on the scene, let's take a look at her report.
The members' corridor is designed to give the media direct access to the country's leading advisors. They have a chance to explain their proposals and concerns, and comment on the country's overall development. Today, the questions ranged from sport and law to healthcare and ethnic minorities.
ZHAO JIAJUN CPPCC MEMBER "As you know, rural areas should be prioritized in health-care reform. We need a lot of effort, but we have made enormous achievements. At the village level, we are building clinics. I can see a big gap between some of the villages, some have clinics that have treatment facilities, but others are lagging behind, they don't have devices, and the doctors are not well trained. I propose that we need to build a standard health-care system for rural areas, and provide better training."
LYU HONGBING CPPCC MEMBER "President Xi jinping asked us to build a comprehensive legal network and promote the construction of a legal system. Lawyers are an important part of the legal nwtwork."
YAO MING CPPCC MEMBER "Last year, we wanted to promote a basketball campaign. I hope it can bring a lot of joy to young people. Basketball doesn't just train our team spirit, but it helps to grow and cultivate our character, and gain basic knowledge about it. I would like to give special thanks to our sports administration, we registered 120 thousand young people for this campaign last year."
Other CPPCC members to speak were from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Tibet Autonomous Region. They commented on how educational standards had improved, as well as the importance of ethnic and cultural development. Liu Yang, CGTN, Beijing.
