Eight people were killed on Saturday after seven suicide bombers attacked a power plant in north Iraq's Saladin province, reported Xinhua citing local police source.
The attack took place on Saturday morning when seven people armed with grenades and explosive belts stormed into the al-Jalsiyah power plant in Saladin's Samarra, killing two security personnel and six staffs of the facility.
Nine other people were injured in the attack.
The security forces, backed by paramilitary Hashd Shaabi fighters, fought back the attackers and secured the plant after shooting the suicide bombers or forcing them to detonate themselves, the source said.
Samarra is located some 100 kilometers north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
No group or person has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
