Unprecedented panda birth signals success for wild release program

The world’s first panda cub born to a captive-bred panda that mated in the wild entered the world in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Monday morning.
Mother Caocao was released into a nature reserve in Sichuan earlier this year.
Caocao's pregnancy is a big success for a program to introduce other captive-bred pandas into the wild.
The newborn panda is being closely monitored by staff at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
