Tencent Sports on October 16 made an official announcement that it has ended cooperation with Ma Chongyang, a guest commentator who made some controversial remarks during a pre-season NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings on October 14, reported by Tencent Sports.
When the first quarter of the game came close to an end, Ma was talking about the athleticism of JaVale McGee, the Warriors' center, he made the following comments: "I wonder where MaGee got his genes from. His mother used to play in the WNBA and she had special relations with many brilliant dunkers and legendary NBA stars. My guess is that MaGee got his genes from 'Dr. J', Julius Erving."
The other commentator of that game, Duan Ran, in response, said: "I really don't know what to say..."

Ma's remarks have infuriated a lot of basketball fans in China. Many asked him to apologize with a considerable number of fans attacking him by commenting under Ma's Weibo account.
On October 15, MaGee was informed about the news and responded on his Weibo by posting "This ain't cool."
Ma has made no reply to any party so far. He is a sports commentator from China Beijing TV Station and started to commentate on NBA since 1999, according to public information.
