Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative Yang Jiechi met with Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in on Friday to brief him on the outcome of Xi's recent summit with Kim Jong Un, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Yang is currently visiting the Republic of Korea (ROK) on behalf of the Chinese government to discuss the situation on the peninsula.
Tension on the Korean Peninsula has been eased recently, said Yang at the presidential Blue House. All relevant parties should seize the opportunity, make joint efforts to ensure the success of the inter-Korean and US-DPRK talks and restart the substantial political settlement of the peninsula issue at an appropriate time, he stressed.
China is willing to work with the ROK to realize the denuclearization and peaceful development of the peninsula, Yang added.

Moon, for his part, spoke highly of Xi's meeting with Kim, praised China's constructive role in resolving the peninsula issue and thanked China for its contribution to the ease of the tension on the peninsula.
Seoul is willing to work with Beijing to jointly safeguard the peace and stability of the peninsula and make efforts to solve the problem via dialogues, Moon highlighted.
The meeting came after Yang's talks with Moon's top security adviser Chung Eui-yong and ROK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.
