A giant panda with shaved legs has achieved celebrity status in China thanks to an online video of his bearing all.
The video, filmed in 2008 but only posted online recently, shows Yuan Xiao limping around his enclosure. He was wounded while fighting with other pandas, and vets had to shave his hind legs in order to treat the wounds.
Yuan Xiao, who has recovered and now lives happily in a zoo in Qingdao, east China, has been nicknamed “pants-off panda”. His hair has grown back to cover the scars on his legs.
