State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office highly appreciates Taiwan's New Party's commitment to the peaceful reunification of China, said a spokesperson of the office on Monday.
"We highly appreciate the New Party's adherence to the one-China policy and the peaceful reunification of the two sides of Taiwan Straits," said An Fengshan.
New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming announced on Sunday that his party opposed "Taiwan independence" and was willing to take the responsibility to "march toward a peaceful unification with China and reinvigorate China as a strong nation."
Yok made the remarks at a ceremony in Taipei marking the 24th anniversary of the party’s establishment.
An said China was willing to maintain communication with all parties, groups, organizations and people including the New Party that upholds the one-China policy and advocates the reunification of China, in a bid to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
