A move to safeguard China's interests. The country just announced it will re-impose tariffs on 128 US imports. It says it's in response to Washington's action last month, imposing tariffs on aluminum and steel products. China also urged the United States to revoke protective measures that violated WTO rules and bring the trade of related products back to normal. Despite worldwide objections, the US decided to impose a 25-percent tariff on steel imports and a 10-percent tariff on aluminum, with tariffs on imports from countries including China. Although in violation of WTO rules, the US measure went into effect in March 23.
