The UAE has been cooperating with China in many areas, such as solar energy. This technology is one of the essential parts of a sustainable city in Dubai, which has been voted for two years as the happiest city in the gulf region. The residential community has become self-sufficient in energy and water. Our correspondent Yasser Hakim sat down with Anwar Alzibn, whose company supports the city.
ANWAR ALZIBN CEO, CITY SOLAR "The Sustainable City is built upon all pillars of sustainability, social, economical and environmental which includes energy, water treatment, mobility, waste management, food products and air quality. This city is one of the first communities in the region which is carbon free, neutral. All the energy it consumes comes from the Solar farms distributed in car parking spaces and roof tops of residential and commercial elements of the city."
YASSER HAKIM DUBAI, UAE "Can you tell us more about Solar energy and renewable energy used in the city?"
ANWAR ALZIBN CEO, CITY SOLAR "We have tested many products and ended up choosing one of the special glass glass technology for the solar panels to be implemented across the city and we are the first company to implement it on such scale in the region as this technology is very suitable for the region. Now we produce 100% of the needs of the community which is unprecedented in this part of the world. "
YASSER HAKIM DUBAI, UAE "Since you've concentrated on solar energy, China is a leading country worldwide in renewable energy. Have you worked with Chinese companies?"
ANWAR ALZIBN CEO, CITY SOLAR "We have visited many of the leading Chinese companies in manufacturing. After a lot of evaluation, we have selected one of the major producers of solar photovoltaic energy it's called Trinasolar to supply very special glass panels which are very suitable for this kind of desert to be used in the sustainability and we have guaranteed to keep it operating for the next thirty years."
YASSER HAKIM DUBAI, UAE "Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting the UAE, how important is it for the UAE, for cooperation and also for you as a businessman in the energy sector?"
