Chinese golfer Feng Shanshan said that she’s proud of herself if she will be the first Chinese golfer to be No. 1 in the world and hopes her achievement encourages the younger generation to play golf, during a telephone interview with CGTN on Sunday.
After the second win in a row on Saturday, Feng Shanshan has become the projected world No.1 in next week.
"Of course I am really really excited and very proud of myself, and I think it's special because I won this tournament to become world number one and I finished first in China, so I actually claimed the world number one in front of all the people at home, so I am really happy about that and I hope all the Chinese can be watching me.  Chinese can play golf,” said 28-year-old Feng.

Feng said she had set the first goal when she first turned to the tournament when she was 18-year-old, which was trying to win an LPGA title. Then she did it when she was 22. The second goal was to play the Olympic Games, and then she won a bronze medal from Rio Olympics. If she would be the new world No.1 next week, then she aims to join in the Hall of Fame. For that to happen she needs to win more tournament and stay competitive next season.
