Syrian state media say Syrian air defenses have repelled Israeli attacks in central and southern regions of the country. The official SANA news agency says more than one Israeli warplane was hit. The Israeli military says only one of its F-16 fighter jets was downed by Syrian anti-air fire on Saturday. Remains of the F-16 were seen in the north of Israel. The pilot has been reported safe. The Israeli Defence Forces says it launched the attack against what it called "Iranian targets" in Syria after shooting down an Iranian drone.
