An advance team of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday toured performance facilities in Seoul to prepare for concerts during the upcoming Republic of Korea (ROK)-hosted Winter Olympics.
Led by Hyon Song Wol, head of the Samjiyon Orchestra, the seven-member advance team came by land route to the ROK on Sunday, visiting the performance facilities in the eastern city of Gangneung near PyeongChang County where the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games are slated to run from February to March.

The advance team arrived in Seoul by bus on Monday. The DPRK has agreed to send a 140-member orchestra for concerts in Seoul and Gangneung during the Winter Olympics.
Pyongyang also promised to send its athletes, cheerleaders and a demonstration team of Taekwondo, a traditional Korean martial art, to PyeongChang.
The DPRK's participation in the games is a sign of the easing of tensions on the Korean Peninsula after a year of confrontation between Pyongyang and Washington over the DPRK's nuclear and missile program.
Under arrangements agreed upon by Pyongyang and Seoul and approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) the DPRK and ROK's delegations will march together under the name "Korea" and the Korean Unification Flag at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympics.
The two sides will also field a unified women's hockey team.
