To Africa now where in the CAF Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns head into the second leg of their quarter-final against Egypt's Al Ahly with their heads held extremely high after winning the first game 5-nil! CGTN's Sias du Plessis caught up with them, just before their trip.
The Mamelodi Sundowns coach admits he was surprised that his team had claimed such a convincing win over the 8-time champions in Atteridgeville but is not leaving anything to chance going into the second encounter against the Egyptian giants.
PITSO MOSIMANE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS COACH "If you asked before the match of Al-Ahly, if you said would you take 1-0, I would have long taken it, so I must also be humble and realistic and be happy with what you got, so the boys have done very well, they've given us or themselves an advantage that is a good advantage."
The Masandawana captain, Hlompho Kekana, is expecting a venomous response from the wounded Red Devils, but is aiming to nullify their intensity by keeping his teammates composed in what promises to be a hostile environment.
HLOMPHO KEKANA MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CAPTAIN "I am anticipating a very, very intense match, that they are going to put us under pressure from the first whistle because, look, they are the ones chasing the match at the moment, so for me, I will try to calm the guys down, because the more we are going to be calm and deny them opportunity to come into our half, the better, because we drag the match, and we stand a chance of going to the semi-finals."
The former CAF Coach of the Year is expecting the usual distractions and disruptions for his team in Egypt, but is confident they can overcome anything that they come up against.
PITSO MOSIMANE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS COACH "Well normally we have all these things, and when they come, we not surprised. We have been on this thing for the last 5 years, so whatever comes, it has been there before. But we don't even want to make excuses or think about it, our job is to complete what we have started, and come back home with a good result."
SIAS DU PLESSIS JOHANNESBURG "The 2016 African champions go into the second leg brimming with confidence, knowing they have a massive advantage ahead of the tie in Suez. Coach Pitso Mosimane says he doesn't know if his team will park the bus, but they are after a goal, and he would love nothing more than that inflict more damage on the 'Team of the Century'. Sias du Plessis, CGTN, Johannesburg."
