China’s necessary defense facility on its Nansha Islands is not targeting any country, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense Ren Guoqiang, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Nansha Islands are Chinese territory and China has every right to deploy troops on the reefs and build a necessary defense facility on the Islands, Ren told reporters per a question whether the defense activities are counter-measures towards US fleet maneuvers in the South China Sea area.
