China's cultural industry saw an annual increase of 11.7 percent in revenue in the first half of 2017, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Friday. The steady growth was guided by strong income from "Internet Plus" services.
The sector's combined revenue amounted to 4.39 trillion yuan (about 651.3 billion US dollars) in the first half of the year.

China is planning to develop its cultural industry to become a pillar of the national economy by 2020 by upgrading its industrial structure, fostering major brands and boosting consumption, according to the NBS report.
