New Era, Shared Future: Chinese officials declare six-day import expo a fruitful event

Let's begin with a look at the agreements and deals reached here at the expo. This afternoon Chinese officials briefed the media. Yang Chengxi filed this report.
According to organizers, the six-day China International Import Expo has been a fruitful one.
SUN CHENGHAI, DEPUTY DIRECTOR CHINA INTERNATIONAL IMPORT EXPO BUREAU "About 800 thousand people have attended the expo. In annual term, the total financial amount of prospective deals reached 57.8 billion US dollars."
YANG CHENGXI SHANGHAI "Over the past few days, when you step into the import expo venue, you'd most likely be coming across scenes like this."
HUANG HUIYONG, DEPUTY DIRECTOR HUNAN PROVINCE HEALTH COMMISSION "We have a group of more than 100 purchasers from Hunan province, and there are a dozen hospitals. We plan to make over 50 million US dollars worth of deals."
Chinese conglomerate Fosun is helping its US business partner called Intuitive Surgical to sell their state-of-the-art operation machines to China. The expo has seen 16.5 billion US dollars worth of deals signed over smart equipments like this.
YANG YONGHUI, DEPUTY DIRECTOR HEBEI THORACIC HOSPITAL "We expect the machine to help with our thoracic operations. We don't have any operation machines in Hebei province and our hospital hope to be the first one."
China is the second biggest retail consumer in the world in terms of sales volume. 4.3 billion US dollars worth of deals have been signed over consumer electronics. E-commerce group Suning, being one of the co-organizers of the home appliance pavilion, has invited more than ten foreign companies to exhibit here.
WANG ZHE, VICE PRESIDENT SUNING "Also, we have signed purchasing agreements of 15 billion euros with businesses from around the world at the expo."
China has now represents the technological forefront for many multinational companies. Conglomerate Johnson Controls unveiled a 200 million US dollar new Asia headquarters in Shanghai. They say more companies in China are looking for energy-efficient solutions for buildings.
