Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited China's Sichuan province, where he sent the new year greetings to people all over the country.

The president went to several autonomous regions in the southwest province. This region holds diverse minorities, some of the largest populations in China. 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of Wenchuan magnitude-8 earthquake. President Xi also went the affected area to morn the victims and to pay tribute to heroes who lost their lives in rescue efforts.
